I received a copy of this book from a Goodreads' First Reads giveaway.
In Ajax Penumbra 1969 by Robin Sloan, readers learn part of the mysterious Mr. Penumbra's story. This is a prequel to Sloan's Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore , a thoughtful and exciting story exploring the intersection of new and old and what it means to be a reader. (If you have not yet read Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, drop what you're doing and go read it right now.) This novella continues to explore some of the themes of Sloan's novel while remaining fresh and interesting. My only complaint is that it was over far too soon. I highly recommend Ajax Penumbra 1969 to any reader who enjoyed Sloan's first novel.
